America has
been blessed by God because of our obedience to God, not because
we are a democracy.
The Christian
heritage of America has given us our tolerance of other people and
their religious beliefs. For example, it is interesting to note
that America is the ONLY country in which the Jews have not been
persecuted.
Christianity
has given a lot to America, but an American type of democracy/republic
is not required in order that people can be Christian.
In the Bible,
chapter 13 of the book of Romans talks about a Christian's relationship
with their government--all types and forms of government.
"Obey
the government, for God is the one who put it there. All governments
have been placed in power by God"
Romans 13:1 (NLT)
The Bible makes
no reference to any types of government being preferred. However,
the Bible does mention circumstances in which God will bless a country
or group of people. In the following verse God is speaking to Abraham,
who represents the nation of Israel:
"I
will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you."
- Genesis 12:3 (NLT)
America has
always been a supporter of Israel, and in many cases the lone supporter
of Israel. As result, America has been blessed. There are also many
other reasons why America has been blessed, some of which have resulted
from our ancestors obediece to God. America has a great Christian
heritage, and has received many blessings from God--not because
we are a democracy--but because we have obeyed God.
