Where Did Life Come From?

Did God create life?

The Bible says that God created vegetation on the third day of creation. He created fish, birds and "great sea monsters" (maybe swimming dinosaurs) on the fifth day. God created land dwelling animals and man on the sixth day.

If we are going to look at this scientifically, we need to examine the evidence. What evidence is there that life was created by God?

Lots. Much of it is right in front of you and easy to see.

If you look at the Sears Tower in Chicago you see something that has a specific form that matches its function. It's immediately obvious to us that someone intentionally designed and built this structure. We know that a complex structure like that doesn't pop into existence by chance, nor could it happen by chance no matter how many millions of years passed.

Yet when some people look at complex living structures, that have a specific form that match their function, they claim those living structures happened by chance. We're talking about structures that are more complex than the Sears Tower; and that have more intricate parts that all must fit and work together in the correct sequence and at the proper time.

No where is there any evidence that live formed naturally and then slowly evolved into different kinds of live. What we do see is a fossil record that has essentially no life, then suddenly there is life--all kinds of life buried in sedimentary rock layers. Scientists call this the Cambrian Explosion. Biblical Christians call it Noah's flood, but that's another topic.

Life Requires DNA

Just like when the Sears Tower was built, before a living cell can be "built" there must be a detailed plan. In cells that plan is called DNA. Not even the simplest cell can be "built" without the instructions supplied by DNA. Where do those instructions (the DNA) come from? The plans for the Sears Tower can from an intelligent architect. The plans for a living cell also must have come from an intelligent designer--God.

Irreducible Complexity

Darwin said that if every a living structure was found that could not have been created by a series of slow, small changes, then his theory would have been proven wrong. Biologists have found many such living structures. From tiny motors in bacteria to your eye, many living things have been identified that could not have been formed by small changes over a long period of time. Again the evidence points to an intelligent designer.

Life Reproduces It's Own Kind

Evolution requires that one kind of life, bananas for example, eventually changes into a different kind of life, dogs, for example. What do we see when we look at the scientific ewvidence? Each kind of life only reproduces the same kind of life. There are many types of dogs--collies, boxers, St. Bernards and poodles. But they are all dogs. A dog has never reproduced anything other than another dog.

Fruit flies, which breed very fast allowing us to see many generations in a short time span, hae been subjected to radiation, poisons and other things to force then to mutate. What is the result? Mostly normal fruit flies, but also a few fruit flies with four wings, no legs, extra eyes and other mutations. Although they are diffewrent, all of the mutuations are still fruit flies.

Both in the fossil record, and in all current evidence, we see nothing but living things that reproduce their own kind. Never does any living thing mutate into a different kind of living thing. Again the evidence points to an intelligent designer.

Scientific Advances

The science learns about life, the more evidence we hae that there was an intelligent designed. A being we call God.

You can either have blind faith that life came about naturally, or you can follow the evidence which, time after time, points to the existence of God.
